Impact Maker Leaders Participate in a Storytelling Workshop
Last week, over 40 of Valley Leadership’s Impact Maker Team members, strategic partners, and community champions came together to participate in a Storytelling Workshop led by Liz Warren and Travis May of the South Mountain Community College Storytelling Institute.
The event was held to kick off the fifth year of Impact Maker work and to provide a unique professional development opportunity to Impact Maker leaders. Liz and Travis did an excellent job engaging with VL leaders on how to tell their own personal stories, how to talk about their Valley Leadership experience, and how to discuss their Impact Team work.
There are seven Impact Maker Teams working to address Arizona’s most pressing issues, including Child Well-Being, Civic Engagement, Education, Environmental Sustainability, Health, Jobs and the Economy, and Racial Justice.
Participants shared stories about their first snorkeling experience, why and how they started their own business, and why they are passionate about early literacy – a focus area of our Education Impact Team. Team members then spent some time to develop their own stories about the progress their Teams have made.
With nearly 100 individuals participating, the Impact Maker program continues to build upon its foundational work and bring together leaders to make a lasting impact in Arizona.
