Health Team Vision & Long-Term Goal:
A world where all Arizonans enjoy good health, live in healthy communities, and have access to affordable health care and wellness resources. Our goal is improved life-expectancy of all Arizonans and decreased disparities by sub-populations. Each of our team’s work ladder up to this vision and long-term goal.
- Opioid Stigma Reduction
- Housing & Healthy Neighborhoods
Opioid Stigma Reduction
Reducing opioid stigma in the workplace and increasing awareness of the opioid crisis.
The opioid epidemic impacts us all – whether we realize it or not – and one place that can provide people the support they need is the workplace. With help from many organizations and individuals in the community, this team created a toolkit for Arizona businesses. The resource is designed to support organizations that want to reduce the stigma of opioid use disorder and be better prepared to help their employees with the support and resources they need to be healthy and productive.
This team seeks to increase the number of employers and employees who champion a supportive company culture as well as offer and seek supportive resources and treatment options.
Register for our upcoming Opioid & The Workplace Summit to hear from national leaders about how businesses can take action to support their teams and organizations.
Housing & Healthy Neighborhoods
Supporting inclusive communities where Arizonans have a safe and healthy place to call home.
The team is supporting Home Matters to Arizona around their goals of increasing funding for housing, using data to inform where to build housing, and getting the support of decision-makers to build housing.
The team is advocating for policies and projects that will help increase the number of attainable homes, particularly in the cities of Phoenix, Mesa, Buckeye, Chandler, and Surprise using the Home is where it all starts campaign. The focus is to ensure that all Arizonans have a home that meets their needs.
Food & Nutrition
Improving food access, food security and food system networks for vulnerable populations.
This team helps carry out Spaces of Opportunity’s strategic plan and mission to enable all south Phoenix families to have affordable access to healthy food, active living and healthy roots in their cultures.
The team also supports Pinnacle Prevention and the Arizona Food Systems Network to increase effective public policy that supports food access and security through advocacy efforts.
